9 Reasons Your Tesco Application Will Be Rejected

You scored too low on the Situational Judgement Test (SJT)

The online assessment is a hard filter that eliminates candidates who do not demonstrate Tesco’s core customer service values.

After submitting your initial details, you are usually asked to complete a Situational Judgement Test. This is where the majority of applicants fail. The ATS automatically scores your responses against a predetermined key, looking for strong Customer Focus and Teamwork.

Many candidates fail because they choose the "most efficient" answer rather than the "most customer-centric" answer. Tesco's primary value is "Every Little Helps", which translates into going out of your way for the customer. If a scenario asks what you would do if a customer cannot find an item, simply pointing them to the correct aisle is the wrong answer.

Walking them directly to the product is the right answer. The system assigns points based on how closely your reaction mirrors their ideal employee behaviour. If your total score falls below the benchmark, an instant rejection email is triggered.

Always answer these questions as if you have unlimited time to help the customer. You must prioritise their experience over your immediate task list to score highly on the SJT.
